Lichfield - Whittington Barracks

Whittington Barracks is amongst the oldest military camps still in use today. It is home to Defence Medical Services (Whittington) : HQ JMC, HQ DMG, HQ DDS, Directorate Healthcare and DPMD. Also on site is Head Quarters Surgeon General (HQ SG). The Staffords Regimental Museum is situated next to Whittington Barracks and tells the story of the present day Staffordshire Battalion of the Mercian Regiment and its predecessors from 1705.

The Barracks is close to Lichfield City, Tamworth and Birmingham. The SFA is all within a ten-minute walk from camp, there is also a community centre, pre-school and post office within easy reach of the married quarters. Whittington Village is also within walking distance from the estate.

Lichfield Support Unit holds a variety of facilities including 2 sports halls, weights room and a cardiovascular area a sports field and a pavilion, access to these facilities is constrained to those times when they are not in use by the Regional Rehabilitation Unit. The HIVE also holds free Internet access available to all. The Community Centre is also home to your HIVE Information Officer, regular coffee mornings are held here and a Junior Youth Club is also available for those aged 8 years and over. Whittington pre-school is also situated within this area
